“Andrew, what brings you here?”

His mentor’s hair was whiter then he saw him. Why had he let so much time pass? This man had taught him so much.

“Well, aren’t you going to answer me?”

Andrew shook himself. “The princess has been carried off.”

His mentor raised an eyebrow. “Is this some sort of joke?”

“Nay.”

“Why are you not seeking to rescue her?”

Andrew closed his eyes and tried to think of the right words. “It seemed like a good way to teach her a lesson this morning. She is in no real danger.”

“How can you know that?”

“Lord Burn carried her off.”

“Are you sure?”

Andrew nodded. “Phillip saw them riding off.”

“Do you truly feel it is right, as a knight, to leave her to her fate?”

“I suppose not,” Andrew said with a sigh. He remounted his horse and…
